Red Wine Menu

AMARONE

This deeply colored wine of purples and reds is sweet and aromatic. Its delectable smoothness is due to a low acid content, delivering a rich earthy flavor.
Pairing: A meal of steak, game or roast goes well.

BAROLO

The "King of Kings" as the old houses of Italy's famed Piedmont region claim. This Barolo meets the calling with a brilliant garnet radiance. Generous and robust, this style has hints of violets and fresh herbs. Oak, acidity and tannins in perfect harmony, deliver a wine that will fare well from cellaring. Good body and intense field berries abound and a spicy finish.
Parings: Rich stews, grilled meat and wild game dishes
Sweetness: Dry • Oak: Heavy • Aging: 8-18 months

BERGAMAIS (Beaujolais)

This supple, fruity and delicate red wine is best consumed young. Cherries and plums fill the nose and the sweet cherry follows through the mouth where it lingers. This refreshing wine is best served slightly chilled. It suits desserts and is excellent as an aperitif.
Pairing: A companion to fruits, desserts or light appetizers.
Sweetness: Off Dry • Oak: None • Aging: 2-4 months

CABERNET MERLOT

Deep garnet hues, with a brilliant red sparkle. The intense nose of red fruits and herbaceous undertones rise from your glass. The wine is robust, fresh, well structured given its high ratio of Cabernet Sauvignon. With the addition of Merlot mellowing the wine, giving it that all too delightful appeal on the palate.
Pairing: Excellent with tomato based pastas, pizza, cheese and beef.
Sweetness: Dry • Oak: Medium • Aging: 6-9 months

CABERNET SAUVIGNON

Rich berry bouquet with blackcurrant undertones. The black skins have lots of tannin and deep rich color which indicate a wine with aging potential. This wine has an incredible complexity of aroma and taste with hints of cherry, chocolate and licorice.
Parings: Beef, turkey, lamb and stews
Sweetness: Dry • Oak: Heavy • Aging: 8-12 months

CABERNET SHIRAZ

Rich and full-bodied with solid tannins and acidity. Its deep garnet robe is matched in intensity only by its full range of flavors. Black cherries aromas blend wonderfully with its fruit jam flavors to create a wonderful experience for the senses.
Pairings: Serve with grilled meats and strong cheeses

CARMENERE

Once mistaken for a Merlot, this mysterious grape varietal has recently been identified as an old world pre-phyloxera clone. This rising star has a distinct blackcurrant nose with fruit jam flavors. Its soft integrated tannins allow for early consumption, yet the wine ages gracefully due to its rich and complex nature. Exhibits aromas of coffee, mocha and green pepper.
Pairing: Serve with grilled meats and vegetables
Sweetness: Dry • Oak: Medium • Sweetness • Aging 8-12 Months

CHIANTI

Rich and full, this traditional Italian wine is truly from the old school. The wine possesses that lively attack expected from Chianti but finishes with a deep berry flavored smoothness. A robust red wine, in the style of Italy's coveted Tuscany region, with deep ruby and violet reflections. This complex wine exhibits hints of spices and black cherry notes with just a hint of dark burnt chocolate and homemade jam. It’s hint of saltiness makes for a perfect match with pasta.
Parings: Pasta, antipasto, veal and pork dishes

MERITAGE

Dark, rich and full-bodied, only begin to describe this wonderful blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. A bouquet of blackcurrant and black cherry with a spicy undertone. A very generous wine with solid tannins and rich mellow oak.
Parings: Well-spiced game, grilled red meats, and strong cheeses
Sweetness: Dry • Oak: Medium • Aging: 8-18 months

MALBEC

This South American favorite, offers a deep garnet robe. The flavors are of intense, ripe, red fruits with a hint of cinnamon. The well-balanced oak only enhances the wine's characteristics.
Parings: Grilled lamb, venison, and Mexican dishes Sweetness: Dry • Oak: Medium • Aging: 8-12 months

MERLOT

Generous and smooth, this red wine is easy drinking with soft tannins and a hint of oak. The bouquet is of lush red berries with a herbaceous undertone. On the palate, it is smooth and warm. It can taste of ripe plums and chocolate and feels like velvet.
Pairing: lightly seasoned white meats
Sweetness: Dry • Oak: Medium • Aging 8-12 Months

OLD VINE CABERNET SAUVIGNON

Old world varietals in the new world, from extremely old vines. Full ripe berry and black currant with an herbal character. This wine is full-bodied with solid tannins, yet it is surprisingly smooth with an extremely long finish.
Parings: Grilled meat, cured meat, strong cheeses (very old cheddar, aged parmigiano)
Sweetness: Very Dry • Oak: Heavy • Aging: 8-18 months

OLD VINE MERLOT

Rich with soft, smooth tannins and black currant undertones with an underlying pepper nose. The "Smoky" oak flavors add to the wines subtle softness. It's long, full, elegant finish will leave you wanting more.
Parings: Rich sauce pastas, grilled veal and pork
Sweetness: Very Dry • Oak: Heavy • Aging: 8-18 months

OLD VINE RED ZINFANDEL

Bright ruby red with slight purple reflections. This wine has cherry and blackberry aromas with a subtle note of strawberries. Spice and pepper flavors fill the palate to both tease and satisfy.
Pairings: goulash, pepper steak, BBQ spare ribs and spicy pastas.
Sweetness: Dry • Oak: Medium • Aging: 9-12 months

PINOT NOIR

Well-balanced with a solid acidity and intense ruby color. Rich cherry flavored with a vegetal hint. The palate is rich fruity and appealing along with some sweet plummy fruit. Quite rich in style, low tannin ideal.
Parings: Rich red sauces, flavorful cheeses
Sweetness: Semi Dry • Oak: Medium • Aging: 6-9 months

SANGIOVESE

A rich dry wine. Well-balanced, strong and full-bodied with a deep ruby red color. This wine has rich flavors of cedar and black currant. It has the deep flavor of intense fruit and mellow tannins with just a hint of vanilla from the oak. The finish is clean and pleasant and is best matched with spicy foods.
Pairings: Spicy red meats, fowl and vegetables.
Sweetness: Dry • Oak: Medium • Aging: 6-9 months

SHIRAZ

Rich and spicy. The color is deep and dark with aromas of red berries and black fruit. Full-bodied with rich velvety tannins and distinct black fruits with a lingering smoky flavor.

VALPOLICELLA

This refreshing, complex, medium-bodied wine has a delicate bouquet and a rich texture. Fragrant and fruity with an explosion of red tree fruit and ripe red berries. This wine possesses solid tannins and acids that delight the palate. This wine is a versatile accompaniment for large dinner parties, a wine to be enjoyed amongst good friends.

VIEUX CHATEAU DU ROI

JOHANNISBERG RIESLING

PIESPORTER

This wine has a floral nose reminiscent of apple blossoms, with some exotic fruit notes. It is fresh and subtle with the proper amount of alcohol (not overpowering).

PINOT GRIGIO

VIOGNIER

A distinct dry wine with a rich and complex aroma. The aroma of apricot, honey and spice abound. Slight tartness to start then surprisingly dry smooth finish. Light golden in color, this wine drinks well young.
